Clear Lake Civic and Commerce aka Clear Lake Community Club Meeting

Date September 12, 2022, at SCI.

The meeting was called to order by President Ture Duden at 6:00 pm. with 12 people present. (Ture & Lisa Duden. Tonya Roth. Cindy Soderberg. Lisa Moggo Amy Stroboch, Greg Toombs. Leong Voss Renee Holman. Wendy Schoggins, Dan Johnson. Audrey Nelson.

Secretary’s Report: Secretary’s report was reviewed. Lisa made a motion to accept, seconded by Dan. Motion carried.

Treasurer’s Report: The report for August was reviewed. Cindy made a motion to accent, seconded by Tonya. Motion carried.

Old Business:

  • Marketing & Communication: Wendy will write up a monthly article for the Chronicle with current hoppenings. She also added a Google Calendar tor everyone to add events etc.
  • Non Profit Status: Amy working with Lisa Lien from First Bank of Baldwin. Amy is getting the numbers needed to finish up the 501(c)3 application.
  • Stuff the Bus: headphones and ear buds were purchased and donated

New Business:

  • Craft Fair: Audrey Nelson shared her ideas for the Clear Lake Craft Fair. After discussion, Dan made a motion for Audrey to be the new Craft Fair Vendor Coordinator, seconded by Lisa, motion carried.
  • Blue Jackets/Welcome Committee for new businesses: There was discussion about forming a Welcome Committee to visit new businesses with ribbon cutting. gifts of cookies, plant or another small gift. It was discussed that polo shirts with the Clear Lake logo were more favorable by some members than blue ackets. Cindy made a motion to create a Welcome committee, seconded by Don, motion carried. Wendy and Dan agreed to be on the committee.
  • Truck Pull: Greg Toombs shared his ideas for holding a Truck Pull. Greg offered to chair the event. He has many of the details procured, including sponsors, sled booking. food and beer, helpers, etc. There was discussion about the date and time of the truck pull. Cindy made a motion to hold a truck pull with Greg Toombs as chair of the event, date to be determined, seconded by Dan, motion carried.
  • Appreciation Dinner: Lisa talked with the owners of Raising the Bar looking for venue information for holding an appreciation dinner. All our sponsors and anyone who helps the Civic and Commerce put on its many events throughout the year will be invited. A tentative date was set for Saturday. November 5m from 4-7. with a menu of pizza and meat cheese and crackers. An email will be sent to all sponsors as well as an ad in the paper. Amy made a motion to hold the dinner, seconded by Tonya, motion carried.
  • Fall Events: Lisa Moggo, PTO president. shared with us the success of the Trunk or Treat Event from last year with 20 trunks and over 200 kids attending. The PTO would like to make the event bigger and wanted to know if the CLCC would like to participate to add to the event. The CLCC had discussed possibly having a Decorate a Scarecrow Contest and it was decided to add the contest to the PO’s Trunk or Treat. The event is scheduled for Sat. Oct 29m from 1p-5p.
  • Lisa also asked about the PTO partnering with Santa Day to serve breakfast or brunch. Dates and times will be looked into, and a final decision will be made at a later date.
  • Fireworks: Amy brought information about the cost of the Fireworks rising for this year to $6.100. There was discussion about Fireball Sponsoring. There would be up to 30 fireballs available for spectators to sponsor at a cost of $50 per fireball. Advertising would be done to get sponsors.

Other: The Polk County Tourism Guide was discussed as the deadline for ads for 2023 was soon. No one was sure of the Commerce’s participation, cost or any other details. Wendy volunteered to talk with the Village offices in hopes of getting more information.

A motion was made by Cindy to adjourn, seconded by Amy. Motion carried. Next meeting October 3, 2022, at 6 pm at SCI.
