Clear Lake Community Club
July 1, 2019
Treasurer Amy Strobach called the meeting to order at 7:12 pm with 10 attendees.
Secretary’s Report: Approved with change. Under Clear Lake Days report Lisa was looking for Pedal Pull sponsors not Demolition Derby sponsors.
Alison took over meeting at 7:15 pm.
Treasurer’s Report: $8,356.88.
Business Council Report: No June or July Meetings. Alison bought window stickers that Members can put in their windows. The new Street Banners are up. The next goal is the purchase of new street lamps. A company in St. Croix Falls is designing with solar capability and the possibility of playing music.
Clear Lake Days Report: Ads in Chronicle and TAB; 59 posters hung up – discussed having these available by the June meeting so can be hung up earlier than 2 weeks before Clear Lake Days. The Balloon guy was a hit again and Alison paid to have him stay longer. A Bundle of prizes (ride tickets, drink tickets, t-shirt, and other donated prizes) was available and could be paid for online or in the Beer Tent = Marketing Tactic. There were 37 vehicles for the Derby. There is a need for more seating. Lisa was able to rent bleachers from the Clayton Lions Club. In the past, the Clear Lake Fire Department has done the cleanup because they sell food at the Derby but they didn’t this year. The Can Man from Turtle Lake goes thru and picks. There were 34 cars for the car show and none wanted their money back even though they left due to rain. The Midway Bar will have something Saturday afternoon after the Demolition Derby and before the band. The Jarchow Open House on Thursday was a success. The Library and Museum will collaborate again on bringing in a speaker for Thursday. People were frustrated with the location of the ticket booth. The Thursday night band only played for an hour so need another band or the band needs to play longer. The food stands need to avoid duplication – there was a complaint that too many were selling hot dogs. The Food Vendors did notice a lack of traffic on Friday morning and early afternoon – not sure if moving garage sales to a different day contributed to this. There were lots of activities in neighboring communities and it was hot.
First Friday: Keep the garage sales on the First Friday of June – maybe have Kick Off to Summer on the Saturday after. Movie in the Park was a success. July’s movie is Dumbo.
Farmer’s Market: Has had trouble landing a permanent home but hopefully being at the Community Center will work out. A motion was made by Cricket LaFond and seconded by Tim Wyss to give $200 to the Market for advertising. Motion passed. Their e-mail is firstname.lastname@example.org. They can be found on Facebook at Clear Lake Community Farmers Market.
Website: Wendy Schoggins is hosting. The site is clearlakewi.com.
Next Community Club meeting will be Monday, August 5th in the Campion Room at the Village Complex.
Motion was made by Cricket LaFond and seconded by Tim Wyss to adjourn. Motion passed. Meeting adjourned at 8:50 pm.
